Support Request: The physical http links on our startup page do not open the corresponding sites in https, redirection problem

Description

Hello,

For a few days we experienced an interruption in navigation to certain sites, Unable to open these links from our startup page http://www.cineressources.net/recherche_t.php :
1) Ciné-web:
http://www.cinematheque.fr/cineweb/ to https://www.cinematheque.fr/cineweb/
invalid certificate error message

2) CBO-Boxoffice :
http://www.cbo-boxoffice.com/v4/page000.php3 vers https://www.cbo-boxoffice.com/v4/page000.php3
Unable to open the page

3) Lien vers site Papercut :
https://imprimer.cinematheque.fr
Unable to open the page, with an invalid certificate error message

Even as the situation has returned to normal, we would like to have your opinion on this incident that occurred on our computers equipments consisting of 21 SiteKiosk workstations under Windows 10. Version of sitekiosk 9.9 Build 6466.
These 21 consultation stations are made available to our audience who comes to consult on-site our website Ciné-ressources, URL http://www.cineressources.net/recherche_t.php
And so, in the configuration of our IE Skin Browser,
Our SiteKiosk Metro IE Skin start page: http://www.cineressources.net/recherche_t.php
Here are the 2 problems that suddenly occurred on Wednesday, November 12, 2025:

1.) On the IE Browser Symbol Bar, we normally have embedded an individual command button to open the following web link: https://imprimer.cinematheque.fr
This button suddenly stopped working on Wednesday, November 12th, after a few minutes it displays a certificate error message.

2.) Another problem noted, except the start page which is also in http that opens well, all the other http links of this page no longer open even though they are supposed to open automatically in https.
We are seeing these problems even though it usually works. Can you please help us understand what happened and why Sitekiosk suddenly can no longer redirect http links to HTTPS or simply opens?
Also, how to explain that the command button link https://imprimer.cinematheque.fr does not open.

We did these few tests and found that:
1) If we stay on our network but leave SiteKiosk to check with Edge or Chrome under Windows, both problems disappear and everything works fine, the problem only occurs when we switch back to Sitekiok.
2) If we move the workstations to another network that is not our company’s (for example by connecting via Wifi to share a mobile phone connection) we do not encounter these problems, SiteKiosk works and opens all links well, including the control button.
Other important information: We are contacting you just to understand and as a preventive measure in case this happens again. To this day everything is indeed working again!
The situation remained blocked from Wednesday, 11/12/2025 to Sunday, 11/16/2025; To our surprise, everything unlocked on Monday, 11/17 without any modification in Sitekiosk and since then everything has returned to order.
I remain at your disposal, let me know if you need to send our configuration file by email.

Thank you very much for kindly handling our request.

Regards,

Roger Molene

Hello,

Although SiteKiosk Classic 9.9.6466 is no longer under support, based on your description, the cause of the issue appears to lie within your system’s network environment (or possibly with a firewall within your network).

As with other browsers, SiteKiosk Classic utilizes only the network connection provided by the operating system, and certificate management is handled entirely by the Windows system. In addition, neither the installation nor the configuration of SiteKiosk changes automatically during operation. The fact that the connection suddenly began functioning again further indicates that the issue did not originate from SiteKiosk itself. Should the problem occur again, please investigate your network environment to identify the root cause.

Regard,
Michael Olbrich

P.S. Please note that Microsoft has ended support for Windows 10; consequently, the operating system will no longer receive security updates.

Hello sir,

Thank you for your response, it’s really nice and makes me want to continue working with you, moreover despite the few difficulties we encounter, overall we are satisfied with your solutions, your products are reliable and very good performance.
Yes, we are aware that our version of SiteKiosk Classic 9.9.6466 is no longer supported and we intend to renew soon, can I send you a proposal in this regard by email, I have some questions I would like to be able to ask confidentially.
I am taking advantage of this ticket to inform you of another blockage that we are encountering in sitekiosk to access this site : Bellefaye https://www.bellefaye.com/
When we click on 'Subscribed and registered access' and enter the credentials, we have these messages:
“ To generate a reCAPTCHA test, please use a compatible browser“
And even though the site page is not fluid, the video clips are not displayed
As a reminder, we use the IE browser and for reasons of operation of our site we must stay on the IE mode which is better suited to our needs.

So, can I write to you by email please ?
Thank you.

Hello,
you can write to support-europe[at]provisio.com.
Note that there is nothing that can be done in SiteKiosk about a page no longer supporting the IE engine (other than switching to the Chrome engine) as is the case with the recaptcha code on https://www.bellefaye.com/. If for other reasons you need to keep on using IE you will have to live with the fact that there are more and more pages you simply cannot use because they stop supporting this outdated browser engine.

Hello,

Thank you for the explanation; But when we switch to Chrome browser we lose the advantage of opening pdfs files which are better managed by the Adobe Acrobat application. In IE Browser SiteKiosk easily opens heavy pdfs files and quickly while the Chromium Browser struggles and puts several mitutes and after times does not display anything. Our site offers a lot of scanned files in PDF, many of which weigh a lot, with sitekiosk IE it works very well but this is not the case with Chrome Browser. I am sending you an email on Monday at the address support-europe[at]provisio.com.

Thank you very much and have a good weekend.
