Support Request: Client error occurred

Description

Dear Team,

I have received several errors from the client reporting an "abnormal SiteKiosk program termination." I have run a job to restart the client, but it did not resolve the problem.

Could you please guide me on how to resolve this issue?

Hello,

Since you have selected version 6.4, you are apparently using SiteKiosk Classic with SiteRemote (6.4).

Generally, you will see the log entry "[SiteKiosk] abnormal sitekiosk program termination" when SiteKiosk hasn’t been closed in the usual way (for example, using the Escape menu).

If this happens only occasionally, there’s no need to worry. For terminals that run 24/7, it’s normal to see this now and then—sometimes users open an HTML page with errors, which can cause this entry.

Otherwise SiteKiosk is designed to automatically detect and resolve most issues without user intervention. A watchdog runs as a Windows service, checking SiteKiosk every 30 seconds. If a problem is found, it restarts SiteKiosk automatically.

This issue should not occur on a regular basis, as it typically indicates that SiteKiosk was not closed properly. However, if you are operating terminals that are in continuous 24/7 use, it is not uncommon for this entry to appear occasionally. For example, it may be triggered when users access an HTML page containing errors.
